Revinate gathers demographic information on every inbound Hub call unless that call is blocked. The report column that displays this information is titled “Profile#.” The number reflects one of 66 Prizm Cluster Codes assigned to every address in the U.S. based on zip code data associated with the phone they used to call you, callers are assigned one of four urban city categories that reflect the population density of where they live. They are then sorted into groups based on perceived affluence, and finally grouped into 11 broader Lifestage Groups that capture a combination of three variables - affluence, householder age and whether there are children living at home—to help paint a more vivid picture of each segment’s likely lifestyle.
The value of this information is based on the sociological premise that "birds of a feather flock together," and that people with similar demographic traits tend to behave in the same way in the marketplace. However, this data was much more reliable when most consumers were using land line telephones identified with a specific zip code. With cell phones quickly becoming the norm, and the development of much more robust and accurate data collection on consumer behavior, it is not recommended that Prizm Code analysis is used to make specific marketing decisions because the data is largely unreliable unless you are examining a large sample size over a long period of time. Caller Profile analysis using Prizm Codes can give you a broad picture of your customer base and enhance your knowledge of your consumer base.
