Mailbox Whitelisting Process

Question: How do I avoid my marketing sends from being filtered into the Spam Folder?

 

Answer: Email Tests and Marketing Sends can sometimes be filtered into the Spam Folder (Related Answer - Email Placement Rates). To avoid this from occurring, it’s best practice to Whitelist a From Address (Your Sending Domain) or IP within your account. This is commonly known as being added to the safe sender list.

 

Each mailbox, or ISP (Internet Service Provider), will require different ways to complete this update. To help, Revinate has included a few popular examples to assist with this change.

Gmail (Gmail.com) - Google offers a variety of ways to whitelist a message to ensure future delivery.

 

>Adding an address to Your Contact List: This ensures that messages from that user (Example: [e-mail]) will always get delivered vs being placed in the spam folder.

1. Open the message
2. Click More  (Three vertical dots in Right Hand Corner)
3. Add to Contacts 

>Marking a message as ‘Not spam’: When a message is marked as spam, and placed in the Spam Folder, Marking a message as ’Not Spam’ will create a user based rule that whitelists all future sends.

1. Open up the Spam Folder
2. Search for the email that was incorrectly filtered (Example: [e-mail])
3. Select Message
4. Mark message as Not Spam

Outlook (Outlook.live.com) - The newest Consumer Mailbox from Microsoft, Outlook offers a few different ways to ensure delivery of a message to the inbox.
