Reservation User Defined Field translations can be referenced with Merge Tags in the same way existing Merge Tag translation functionality works. Additionally, these User Defined Fields will support long form translations to allow hotels to personalize communication appropriately.
To access the Data Field Mappings page, go to Settings in the top navigation bar of your Revinate Marketing account.
Then select Data Field Mappings under Account Settings.
You will land on the Data Field Mappings Page as shown below. This is where you will be able to ‘translate’ codes used in your PMS to the wording that you would like to use to communicate to your guests or to see the translation in the rest of the Revinate. For example, you should translate your room type codes into the room types the guest understands like DK into Deluxe King Room or S1BK into South View Junior Suite. This will ensure that when you use Merge Tags the translation appears for your guest instead of the code. You should translate Rate Code and Channel so that when building segments everyone understands these data points. If a marketing coordinator has to build a segment they might not be used to all the rate codes on property so looking for them by name would be easier.
You can set up your Foreign Language Mapping on the same page. If you will send emails in multiple languages, you will need to translate your room types etc into those languages.
You can also set up User Defined Fields (ie pull a PMS field into Revinate) and then map them on this page as well. If you have a field in the PMS for Car Type (to organize airport pick-up) we can ingest this field and then you can translate that code (ie BMW7) into text (ie Your BMW 7 is confirmed. Please look for your driver holding a sign with the logo of the hotel to the right of customs). This can then be pulled as a merge tag into your confirmation, making communication with your guests seamless. Please note that the translation field supports line breaks, so you can type your translation in the format you would like it to appear in the confirmation.
Please note that Revinate will have to update your back end settings to pull in the user defined field, please also note that this may not be possible for some Property Management Systems. Please contact our Support Team at support@revinate.com to avail this option.
When you want to make a translation click the Translate to the right of your fields, the below will pop up for you to add your text, delete any codes that are not relevant, and save your work.
Once you have made your translation, use merge tags as you normally would in your email campaigns. If you would like additional information on merge tags please read the following articles.
