If a hotel/group requires explicit subscriptions, here are some suggestions on ways to get guests to subscribe to their promotional emails.
The expectation is that a transactional email will be used to ask the guest for explicit consent. Revinate Marketing has the following subscription merge tags that are available:
-
[SUBSCRIBE LINK] - This is the actual hyperlinked text with underlying [SUBSCRIBE URL] set by default. It drives to a page that indicates you've subscribed to the individual property OR group (basically, depending on account) in question, notifies you of that change, and then allows you to manage your preferences.
-
Example: Subscribe
-
-
[SUBSCRIBE URL] - Subscribe URL for the above, in case you want to use it for your own button.
-
Example: http://xxx.revinate.com/subscription/..
-
-
[SUBSCRIBE ALL LINK] - This is the actual hyperlinked text with underlying [SUBSCRIBE ALL URL] set by default. It drives to a page that indicates you've subscribed to both the individual property AND the related group, notifies you of that change, and then allows you to manage your preferences.
-
Example: Subscribe All
-
Note that this doesn't re-subscribe to "other properties in the group" though, as that requires the guest to have stayed in those properties too.
-
-
[SUBSCRIBE ALL URL] - This is the underlying URL for the link above.
-
[UNSUBSCRIBE LINK] - This is the link to the Unsubscribe action/page.
-
[UNSUBSCRIBE URL] - This is the underlying URL for the link above.
-
-
[UNSUBSCRIBE ALL LINK] - This is the hyperlinked text to unsubscribe all, which includes unsubscribing from group, the individual property, and all properties under the group (if already subscribed).
-
[UNSUBSCRIBE ALL URL] - This is the underlying URL for the link above.
-
-
[MANAGE PREFERENCES LINK] - This is the hyperlinked text to the subscription preferences page.
-
Note: Unlike the other Subscribe or Unsubscribe Links, no action is taken when landing on the page. The user is just given an opportunity to change preferences on the page and update.
-
-
[MANAGE PREFERENCES URL] - This is the underlying URL for the link above.
Note: alternatively, the email could drive a contact to a website page that has a "Webpage Sign-up Form" (using the Contact List API).
